If you use an Echo device or Echo speaker and was trying to figure out why is my Echo flashing? don’t worry, and let me explain why.

So, a couple of months ago my wife and I came back from a trip and we noticed the Amazon Echo Dot was flashing yellow. At first, we were concerned, but we decided to ask, “Alexa, why are you flashing yellow?” to which she replied “you have new messages waiting.” Then gave us instructions on how to retrieve them.

The Echo not only flashes yellow, but also red, green, or blue, to alert you on different things, depending on the color. This can get annoying at times but also a great feature to alert you when you received a package from Amazon.

Let’s take a closer look at what all of Alexa different colors mean.

Why is my Echo flashing? Blue, Yellow, Green, Red, Purple, and White Light

Spinning Blue light

Most of the time when you see a light its usually a solid blue ring with a spinning, light blue ring over the top. This color means your device is starting up or it may have had to restart on its own.

If the ring doesn’t stop spinning, check if something wrong through your Alexa app.
